My Firefox Extensions

One of the many reasons why Firefox is the best browser ever is the possibility to install extensions.
Extensions add new functionality to Firefox. Any feature you may wish or require may be achieved via an extension. There are hundreds of extensions already available so the chances that you find one that fits your needs is high.
Extensions make Firefox even better! You build and customize your own browser.

Two places to start searching for extensions are:

While some of the extensions just bring some nice functionality, others are vital – can’t live without them!
I can’t imagine the web without Firefox, and I can’t imagine Firefox without extensions.

Here’s a list of the extensions I’m currently using. Firefox 1.0.4 has been released a couple of days ago, and all the extensions work fine in this version.

  • Tabbed Browsing
    • MiniT+ – Drag/reposition the tabs.
    • UndoCloseTab – Open the last N closed tabs.
    • LastTab – Allows tab navigation in a most recently used manner with Ctrl+Tab or Ctrl+Shift+Tab.
    • Duplicate Tab – Duplicates an opened tab.
  • General
    • SessionSaver – Remembers the tabs that were open when you closed the browser.
    • FlashGot – Adds your download manager functionality to Firefox. I use it with Flashget.
    • Reuse Home Page – Loads an external link into an active home or blank tab.
    • Image Zoom
    • FoxyTunes – Allows you to control your favourite media player.
    • PDF Download – Decide what you want to do when you click a link that would open a .pdf file: open in a new tab, view as html, download or cancel.
  • Backup
    • Bookmarks Synchronizer – Upload your bookmarks to a server and share them among your computers.
    • Bookmark Backup – Allows you to backup almost everything. I use it for history backup which is sometimes lost…
    • Open Profile Folder – Self Explanatory. I’m using the next extension instead.
    • Edit Config Files – Edit configuration files plus, like the previous extension, opens the Profile Folder.
  • Forums
    • BBCode – Saves you a lot of typing if you use to participate in forums as you can easily add tags that most forums use.
    • Resizeable Textarea – Increase/decrease the textarea dimension’s to see what you’re writing.
    • Spellbound – A dictionary that helps you prevent typos.
  • Development

it’s funny … i’ve seen a lot of posts on this topic lately. i absolutely couldn’t live without WebDev, but sometimes I get to thinking that I use so many tools to speed up dev times and work more efficiently it’s kind of ridiculous- you know? like maybe we could actually work faster with a few less utilities…
